The leadership of Fine Gael looks to almost certainly be up for grabs this week as Enda Kenny announces he’ll make his intentions of when he’ll step down to the parliamentary party this coming Wednesday.
A man waiting in the shadows to declare his run for leadership and possible accidental role as Taoiseach is the current Minister for health 30-yr-old Simon Harris.
Harris said today in Mullingar that he would not deny or confirm a run until Wednesday when Kenny announces.
Harris is said to be getting pushed by his mentor Frances Fitzgerald.
Other contenders include Leo Varadkar, Simon Coveney and Minister for education Richard Bruton.
