A six-year-old girl has tragically died in Meath after contracting meningitis.
A second girl, also from the Meath area, is in a serious condition in hospital after contracting the potentially deadly infection.
Parents are advised to be vigilant and watch out for symptoms of the disease, such as a high fever, lethargic state, or a rash on the child.
