A 7.8-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Fiji in the Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey service said that the quake struck 123km south east of the Fiji capital of Suva, at a depth of 669 km.
Because the quake occurred at such great depth beneath the surface, there is no threat of tsunami and the damage is minimal.
