Search teams looking for the remaining crew members and information about Rescue 116’s crash have confirmed that they have detected a beeper signal off the Mayo coast from the black box recorder of Helicopter R116.
The beeper was identified in 40 metres of water, around 60 metres from Blackrock lighthouse at 4.30pm this afternoon.
The Coast Guard’s operations manager has said this is a very significant step in knowing the full extent of what happened on that tragic flight.
