A Good olde Friday drink: Dáil officially passes new legislation that will allow for the sale of alcohol on Good Friday




There was some good news for publicans this afternoon as the Dáil officially passed new legislation that will allow for the sale of alcohol on Good Friday.

In a move that was brought in to help tourism, the amendment to the Intoxicating liquor Act will now allow all pubs, off licences and retailers to sell alcohol on Good Friday.

According to RTÉ News on the announcement of the new amendments Minister for State said the change to the law should significantly build tourism, particularly at Easter time as recent figures suggest.

The move which will come into affect from today onwards will now mean all alcohol products can be sold this Good Friday which is on March 30th.
