We all know that today, Christmas day, is a time of celebration that usually sees families come together as one, but for some the festive holiday can be a time of reflection especially when it comes to those they sadly lost this year.
Over the past year The Liberal has been reporting some major stories that we hoped you enjoyed.
However, some of our stories have been sadly more heartbreaking in nature as many have tragically lost their lives due to unforseen circumstances.
In a year that has seen the world been subjected to acts of violence and terrorism we would like to publish the following prayer to honour those who sadly passed away in 2017.
We would also like to pay tribute to the families of those who also tragically lost loved ones in accidental and natural circumstances.
The prayer reads as follows:
Almighty Father, source of forgiveness and salvation, grant that our relatives and friends who have passed from this life may, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the saints, come to share your Eternal happiness through Christ our Lord. Amen
Eternal Rest, grant to them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
May the Lord bless us, may he keep us from evil and bring us to life everlasting. Amen.
