A town in mourning: Residents of Ballincollig Co Cork pay tribute to local man Olan Kierse who tragically died in a workplace accident on Tuesday




The victim of a tragic workplace accident in Cork on Tuesday has been named as 19-year-old Olan Kierse from Ballincollig.

Olan sadly passed away when he was working with a steel grinder and heavy construction equipment fell on top of him at the Eirebloc factory in Dunisky near Lissarda shortly before 11am Tuesday morning. The victim Olan was a former student of Ballincollig Community School and later Limerick Institute of Technology, and was currently working at the pallet factory on a part time basis. The news of Olan’s tragic passing has left many local residents in shock with many of his friends taking to social media to express their grief. One mourner wrote: “Olan Kierse – a man who will leave a huge void for so many people.” Another described Olan as “someone who always put a smile on my face and made me cry with laughter. You were the life and soul of the party and a true gentleman.”

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that funeral Mass for Olan will take place tomorrow at 12pm followed by a private burial.
