The current cold spell will be halted in its tracks this weekend as Met Eireann say temperatures across the country will be a whole lot milder.
In what can be described as welcome news the national forecaster has said many parts of Ireland will be warmer than Madrid this coming weekend.
The sudden change in the weather is expected as a warm front is expected to move up from Spain which will see temperatures reaching a rather pleasant 15c.
However the milder temperatures will not mean that there will be prolonged sunshine throughout as heavy rain and damp conditions are expected throughout the course of the weekend.
It is expected that Saturday will see the best of the weather as some sunny spells are expected in the early afternoon, although heavy showers are expected to make their way across the country and they will continue into Sunday.
