A new survey has revealed that almost €21,000 worth of property and cash is illegally taken from parked cars across the country on a daily basis.
Over the past 12 months alone, €7.6m in cash and goods was taken from vehicles that were left unlocked or broken into ovenight.
Statistics show that 25% of vehicles parked outside Irish homes are unlocked, and that cars in the Dublin area are most vulnerable.
It has also been shown that most thefts occur on Friday and Saturday nights.
