Welcome to Ireland 2017: Five homeless people sleep rough outside Drogheda shopping centre

This image is fairly hard viewing – it almost warrants a warning because it’s quite difficult to contemplate that in 2017 five homeless people are sleeping rough outside a major shopping centre’s entrance.

Drogheda man, Karl O’Reilly spotted the tragic sight on Saturday morning before the Co Louth shopping centre opened its doors.

Karl posted the image to Facebook with a caption of “Welcome to Drogheda 2017, sad times”.

The image received much criticism for local TDs who are said to have done “little to nothing” to stop homelessness in the town.

Karl told The Liberal that there were four men and one woman and that they were all Irish people.

What’s your thoughts on the out-of-control homeless situation in Ireland?
