It what can only be described as absolutely disgraceful, figures obtained by RTE investigations department have revealed that the actual figure for the national hospital waiting list is double the official figure released.
In the programme, which will air tonight after the 9 o’clock news, will see the official figure of 81,000 be radically reduced by the real figure of over 163,000.
The total number of people waiting on the Inpatient/Day Case Waiting List was published by the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) on 30 December 2016 and was said to be 81,015.
But as RTE investigations uncovered, the evidence shows there are at least two other significant waiting lists which are not published by the NTPF, which have a combined 82,770 patients awaiting treatment.
Minister for Health 30-yr-old Simon Harris hasn’t commented on the discovery.
