Police in Canada are unwilling to confirm whether last night’s incident in Toronto was a terrorist attack or not.
It has been confirmed that 9 people were killed and 16 people were seriously injured after a van ploughed through a crowd of pedestrians in Toronto, Canada.
Police investigating the devastating incident arrested the driver of the van and he remains in police custody this morning.
The van ploughed through a group of pedestrians on Yonge Street and Finch Avenue East at approximately 1:30pm local yesterday.
Although its is not yet known how the incident occurred, a number of eyewitnesses say the van deliberately drove through the crowd.
Many online commentators are claiming it’s yet another atrocious act of Islamic extremism but it hasn’t been confirmed by police at this stage.
