A young school-boy aged 11 has died in Cork following what Gardaí have described as a personal tragedy.
The primary school that the young boy attended are receiving various supports from the HSE following the tragedy.
Emergency services were alerted to a house at the Boreenmanna Road area of the city around 8pm last night.
Upon arrival they discovered the 11-year-old boy in critical condition in his bedroom.
The boy was raced by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are investigating the full circumstances, but they have stressed that they are treating the incident as a personal tragedy.
Numerous support services including psychologists, resource teachers and the local clergy are available to help children, parents and teachers affected.
