African countries with representation at the United Nations are showing a united front today, showing their disgust against the highly offensive slurs uttered by President Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House on Thursday.
Mr. Trump referred to the entire African continent -plus Haiti and El Salvador- as ‘shitholes‘. Though he later attempted to deny using such language through a series of awkward tweets, the entire world came down on him like a ton of bricks.
An African group of UN ambassadors released a statement to say that ‘(the group is) extremely appalled at, and strongly condemns the outrageous, racist and xenophobic remarks by the president of the United States of America as widely reported by the media.‘
A UN resolution demanding a retraction and an apology from Mr. Trump was fast-tracked at a United Nations meeting.
