It has emerged today that AIB “misplaced” personal information belonging to hundreds of its customers, putting them at risk of identity theft.
It is understood that the information went missing in Galway on August 31 last. The data lost included name, loan and deposit balances, account turnover and annual feeds, plus a number of bank-related codes.
The bank has been in touch with the customers affected to issue an apology.
