Air Accident investigators have confirmed that an investigation has been launched this morning following the deaths of an English man and a seven year old boy onboard a light aircraft on Sunday.
The investigation comes after the pair were tragically killed during the crash which occurred near the Mountlucas wind farm just outside Edenderry.
It is understood the aircraft crashed shortly after take off on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí investigating the incident say a post-mortem examination on both victims of the crash will take place at Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, later this morning.
