AF1300, en route from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, had to land in Adolfo Suarez-Barajas airport in Madrid over a possible Ebola case onboard.

A passenger on the flight complained he was feeling unwell and began shivering. The man had got on to AF1300 as a connecting flight from Lagos, Nigeria. As a precaution, the plane was diverted and landed safely in Madrid airport. All passengers were disembarked and the sick man was immediately put in isolation.

Though initial tests appear to confirm that the man does not have Ebola, the return flight has been canceled as a precautionary measure, and the aircraft has been thoroughly disinfected. The plane is now grounded at Madrid until further notice.

Spain’s government has stepped up its response to the Ebola crisis since one of its citizens, nurse assistant Teresa Romero, became the first person in the world to become infected with Ebola outside of the African continent. She is currently in hospital in Madrid, fighting the infection.
