The most popular text messaging service in the world, WhatsApp went down worldwide last night after services went off air shortly after 8:30pm Irish time and remained down for around 6 hours.
The text messaging service, which is owned by Facebook, said its engineers worked non-stop to get the service back up and resolve any issue. It has had very little downtime over the past 5 years of service.
