Last night a boy was arrested after he alledgely set fire to a dogs home where some 43 animals were killed. The boy whose name cannot be given as he’s a minor, is set to have purposely gone out of his way to try and burn down the building which is more than 100 years old.

NOT ALL BAD NEWS – Incredible efforts for neighbours did their utmost to rescue as many animals as possible, and amazingly they risked their own lives to rescue 150 animals.

Outrage and shock at the blaze resulted in several fundraising campaigns being launched which have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds within a few hours.

The Manchester Evening News newspaper had originally aimed to raise £5,000 but then soared to over £800,000. It has now reached £1 million.

On its Twitter page, Manchester Dogs’ Home said: “Words are not enough. Thank you everyone, you have touched our hearts and surrounded us with love and we are truly grateful.

“We are overwhelmed with the offers of help, support and money. Grateful and humbled.”
