The once-mighty American retail giant Sears has filed for bankruptcy.
The brand, which was once America’s largest retailer, had struggled financially for many years due to a shift in customers’ shopping habits and failure to keep up with emerging online retailers like Amazon.
Sears’ final nail in the coffin came in the form of a $134 million debt payment that fell due today, a payment it could ill afford.
