A judge has issued a €3,000 fine to former Anglo director Pat Whelan over the latter’s failure to register an €8.2m loan on the bank’s books.
The loan in question was fraudulently drawn down to refinance other borrowings. Mr. Whelan faces up to 7 years in prison if convicted.
Anglo Irish Bank was wound down and a large bill handed down to taxpayers in lieu of the bank’s shortcomings.
