Animal rights activists left outraged after woman kills rare giraffe during hunting trip

Thousands of people on social media have voiced their disgust after a woman from the US uploaded photos showing her posing with a dead giraffe.

The outrage which has become global news comes after the woman Tess Talley Thompson, uploaded the photos on Twitter.

In the post which had been slammed by many Ms Thompson aged 37, said she stalked the animal before brutally killing it during a hunting trip in South Africa.

It is believed the rare giraffe was 18 years old and weighed more than 4,000lbs.

Ms Thompson who has since deleted her Facebook said the following: “Prayers for my once in a lifetime dream hunt came true today! Spotted this rare black giraffe bull and stalked him for quite awhile”.

Many animal lovers have slammed Ms Thompson’s actions with many labeling them barbaric and disgusting.

Although hunting is legal in South Africa, the targeting of rare species by tourist hunters has left many animal rights activists outraged.
