Anti-Eviction and political activist Ben Gilroy was given a 3-month jail term in Mountjoy yesterday afternoon.
He was found to be in “contempt of court” in relation to a community service penalty. Mr Gilroy’s wife Sarah Jane was interviewed twice on Wednesday by investigative journalist Gemma O’Doherty outside the Bridewell garda station where Ben was being processed and outside Mountjoy prison where Ben was spending his first night.
On the Facebook page “Tiger Reborn”, Gemma O’Doherty stood with Ben Gilroy’s wife and held a protest outside Mountjoy prison last night and will do so again today at 2pm, asking the public to join them in support of Ben.
The hashtag #FreeBenGilroy has circulated social media all day while a GoFundMe account has been setup to help with Ben’s family while he is in prision.
