Vodafone UK released a statement today to say that some personal details of nearly 2,000 customers may be have been fraudulently viewed.
The details include customers’ names, bank sort codes, mobile numbers and the last four digits of their bank accounts.
It is not immediately clear whether the accounts of any Irish customers may have been compromised.
Vodafone have launched an investigation into the cyber-attack and have informed the banks of the customers affected.
A tech spokesperson said: “Although it is not immediately clear whether Irish customers were affected, it is more than likely that some will be among the 2,000 accounts that are compromised”.
“It’s believed Vodafone will contact the 2,000 customers involved”, he concluded.
