Are you ready to rock – Over 80,000 rock music fans to descend on Slane Castle for second Guns n Roses gig in 25 years

Over 80,000 rock music enthusiasts are expected to descend on Slane Castle later today as US rock group Guns n Roses are to play second gig at the venue in 25 years.

The highly anticipated concert which was sold out in a matter of minutes last December will see heightened security in the wake of the Manchester Arena bombing in Monday night.

It is expected that over 400 Gardaí and 1200 private security personnel will be put in place at the concert which will also house an on site medical facility.

Although Gardaí expect the concert to go on without incident, they are reminding people to take extra care and behave in an appropriate manner on the day and are advising the large crowd to drink responsibly.

Meanwhile Met Eireann have said the weather will be considerably warm with temperatures expected to hit 18c although there will be heavy rain showers throughout the day, but it is expected to be clear over head come the evening.
