A man allegedly armed with a handgun entered the Ulster Bank branch in Blackpool, Cork, at around 11am this morning.

Gardai and the armed Regional Support Unit rushed to the scene, and it remains unclear whether the perpetrator managed to obtain any cash.

It is understood nobody was injured during the incident, but bank staff are said to be “deeply shocked”.
