In what’s being described as “a gesture of friendship and peace”, Arlene Foster met with a number of Fermanagh GAA players over the weekend.
The DUP leader was quizzed by RTE’s Tommy Gorman as to why she decided to meet the footballers and what she said to them.
Foster said that she met them as a gesture of friendship to her neighbours:
“I gave them a card that read, as a proud Fermanagh woman, I wish all the best to my Fermanagh neighbours”.
She went onto say that although she wasn’t born into the culture of the GAA, she respects the game and players and wishes them all the best.
It’s yet another sign that unity and peace is thankfully prospering in Northern Ireland. Long may it continue.
