As thousands languish on hospital trolleys, Simon Harris makes Ibrahim Halawa a major priority

One has to wonder what the hundreds of people languishing in A&E departments around the country makes of this.

30-yr-old Minister for Health Simon Harris has come out to announce that Ibrahim Halawa, the 21-yr-old who went to Egypt to fight with the Muslim Brotherhood, will get the full McCoy treatment of the Irish health service should be be allowed back to Ireland.

Ibrahim Halawa – a man who is on trial for his involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood – seems to have the full backing of the Dail, but appears to have little to no backing from the concerned Irish public.

Halawa is in jail in Egypt after he left Ireland to get involved in the Muslim Brotherhood protests in Cairo in August 2013.

Allegedly Halawa showed his Egpytian passport in Egpyt claiming he was Egyptian, not Irish.

Allegedly a short time later, a video emerged of Halawa burning his Irish passport and seemingly ripping up the tricolor. Again allegedly, his sisters are said to have done their utmost to get the video taken offline but this has not been confirmed.

Many social media users claim they saw the video and that Halawa did indeed burn his Irish passport and renounce any connection to Ireland.

Meanwhile, Simon Harris said that his entire department will be at the beck and call for Halawa should he need any checks in relation to his health if he returns to Ireland.

One has to wonder what the thoughts of the elderly languishing on trolleys in A&E departments around the country this morning would make of Harris and Halawa.
