At least eight people killed after shooting in a restaurant in the Czech Republic

There are reports this evening that eight people have been killed in a shooting incident inside a restaurant in the Czech town of Uhersky Brod.

The gunman, said to be a local aged in his 60s, entered the restaurant and opened fire with a handgun. He then shot and killed himself.

A waitress from the restaurant is reportedly in hospital following the incident.

Uhersky Brod is a small town of about 17,000, located 185 miles south east of Prague. The town is home to the Ceska Zbrojovka firearms factory.

Czech Interior Minister Milan Chovanec is reportedly heading to the town, and will hold a news conference later this evening.

The attack is thought to be an isolated incident and it is not believed to be terror related.
