The Austrian chancellor Sebastian Kurz, has pledged his and his countries support to the Irish government, by stating that the Austrian Government would not support a hard border on the island of Ireland.
Mr Kurz who made history in December last year by becoming the countries youngest chancellor, informed his counterpart Mr Varadkar of his countries decision whilst they were attending Vienna’s prestigious Opera ball.
The Austrian chancellor said his country would pledge their full support to the Irish Government in regards to the border issue, when Brexit negotiations resume later this month.
Mr Kurz said the issue is not just an issue for Ireland and the UK, but it is a major issue for all EU nations as it could have a serious impact on the Irish economy and other EU nations.
