Back in the race – Coveney overwhelming favourite amongst regular Fine Gael members

The Minister for Housing Simon Coveney is gaining ground on his rival Leo Varadkar in the face to become leader of the Fine Gael party according to a latest poll.

Mr Coveney who has long been seen as the second favourite to take over from Enda Kenny reportedly has the support of less well known Fine Gael members to become the next leader.

The news which will most likely come as aa blow to Mr Varadkar comes after the latest stats from the MRBI Irish Times survey showed that 48% of regular Fine Gael voters would like Coveney, over 44% for Varadkar.
