Back on their word: Sinn Fein give €2,500 pay increase to all elected representatives as the minimum wage pay module is no longer sustainable

It seems that the Sinn Fein party have gone back on their word regarding pay hikes for politicians as the party have recently announced that all it’s party members are now entitled to a pay rise of €2,500.

The news of the substantial increase in salary payments come after a number of the party’s TDs claimed that their current module of living on the national minimum wage was no longer feasible.

The party’s move is likely to draw widespread criticism from the Irish taxpayer after the party previously claimed during their 2016 election campaign that all TDs salaries were extravagant, and that their own party could happily serve in Government on the national minimum wage.

However now it seems the party has changed their tune regarding their stance and have offered a €2,500 pay hike to all it’s Government TDs.

The move comes after the party agreed at its recent congress that the current module of living on the minimum wage was no longer sustainable given the current change in the economy.
