Back on track: Rail and Luas services back up and running following storm Ophelia

The country’s train services have resumed this morning after workers at Iarnród Éireann worked through the night to clear obstructions on rail lines across the country

According to Irish Rail the vast majority of services will be fully operational today although there may be some changes to the schedule due to ongoing repairs to the damage caused by storm Ophelia.

The news comes as the company were forced to suspend all services on Monday afternoon in the interest of public safety as high winds caused trees and debris to fall on lines around the country.

Irish Rail say they hope to have all services fully functional by later today.

Meanwhile in Dublin it is expected Luas services will also be back up and running as lines across the capital have been mostly cleared this morning, although Transdev say all services won’t be full operational until later this morning.
