Backlash for Varadkar after he said many people get mortgage help from mum and dad

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has yet again come under fire after he recently suggested that young people looking to buy a home should ask their parents for money.

Mr Varadkar who was speaking during Leaders Questions time made the rather ludicrous suggestion after he was questioned on the prospect of banks handing out 100% mortgages.

The Taoiseach who also revealed that he raised his own money to purchase his own home, said that the prospect of banks handing out 100% mortgages are very slim and therefore young people should look elsewhere to raise the money for their deposit.

Mr Varadkar further stated that many young people are known to turn to their parents when they need a helping hand especially when it comes to starting off in life.

The Taoiseach also suggested that young people should consider travelling abroad for period of time in order to raise funds.

However his comments did not go down well with the general public as many felt that his remarks were arrogant and completely unrealistic.

Many who disapproved with the Taoiseach’s comments claimed that he was being ignorant to the problem at hand, with many claiming he knows full well that most parents don’t have in the region of €30,000 to give to their children.
