There was bad news for commuters today as Union members at Bus Eireann have confirmed that they fully plan on undertaking indefinite strike action from midnight tonight.
The news comes after representatives of the five unions within the company held discussions earlier this afternoon regarding management’s immediate decision to implement significant cost-saving measures.
It is understood that all union representatives have now agreed to enforce an all out strike action after management refused to re-enter last minute negotiations to avert such action.
Union chiefs now say the time for talking is now over, and strike action should be undertaken to voice our disapproval at the enforced cuts.
The strike action comes less than a week after talks broke down between both parties over the scheduled introduction of cost cutting measures that will stop the company from entering insolvency.
