Bank Holiday Monday weather: Wind warning comes into effect for nine counties

There is no let up to the weather onslaught this Bank Holiday weekend.

A wind warning has been issued for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Very strong southerly winds with average speeds of 45-55km/h will sweep across the country throughout the today, with gusts of up to 100-110km/h at times.

The warning came into effect at 9am and will remain in effect until 9pm tonight.

Going forward this week, the weather will remain very unsettled, with a mix of heavy rain and sunny spells.
