Bank of Ireland imposes precautionary restrictions on a number of debit cards over fraud concerns

A number of Bank of Ireland customers will not be able to use their debit cards for online and contactless payments for a time today, as the bank suspects that those cards may have been compromised.

Those customers affected have been contacted via email.

The bank has stressed that the measure does not imply that the card in question has or will be used for fraudulent purposes, insisting instead that the restrictions have been taken as a ‘precaution.’
