Be careful: Gardai issue warning to women after they arrest a man driving a fake Taxi with a female passenger on board

Gardai have issued a stark warning today, particularly to women, after they arrested a man last night pretending to be a taxi driver.

The Dublin Metropolitan Police Corps unit of the gardai saw the ‘taxi’ drive past them with fake looking decals.

They stopped the car and found a fake taxi sign was attached to the roof and fake stickers were on the sides. There was also no NCT or tax on the car.

Frighteningly the worst part was that there was a female passenger on board who is said to have had no idea the taxi or the driver were fake.

The man was arrested at the scene, and the shook up woman was escorted home by the gardai.

Gardai have warned that people, in particular women, need to be extremely cautious when using Taxi services and to check the validity of a taxi with the “Taxi Driver Check” app, which is free to download.
