Be careful: Public warned to be vigilant as Storm Callum makes landfall




The Irish public have been urged to take extra care as strong winds from Storm Callum have already battered the country over night.

The warning comes after Met Éireann issued an orange status wind weather warning for 13 counties for Thursday night and Friday morning.

It is expected that winds in the region of 130km/h are expected throughout the morning.

Met Éireann say the warning will apply to the following counties The warnings cover Cork, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, and Waterford.

They say the warning will remain in place until 5pm this evening.

The National forecaster has also warned that widespread flooding is expected in some regions with the south of the country expected to bare the brunt of the storm.
