Be Ready: Government​ launches winter campaign to inform the public to get the flu vaccine and take care of the elderly this coming winter




The Government​ have launched its Be Ready winter campaign this week in a bid to inform people to take extra precautions this coming winter.

It is understood the campaign is aimed at older people and it encourages the elderly and those with medical conditions to get thee flu vaccine as soon as possible.

Launched by the Minister for Health Simon Harris this week the campaign also advised people to check in on their elderly relatives and neighbours who may struggle to get supplies this winter.

The campaign comes as the country is preparing for one of the worst winter’s in a decade which will see severe weather conditions across the country with temperatures predicted to drop as low as -10c.

It is also expected that the country will be hit with one of the worst flu epidemics in recent years as a deadly strain of the virus is expected cause havoc this year. 

Speaking about the campaign Minister Harris encouraged everyone who is eligible to receive the vaccine to get immediately in order to avoid any potential outbreak.

He also called on the public to check in on the elderly regularly as they could become housebound due to appalling weather conditions.
