Beast from the East: Met Eireann to decide this morning whether a Red Weather Alert is to be issued

Met Eireann will meet again this morning to determine whether a national Red Alert Weather Warning should be issued.

As the Beast from the East has already left up to 6 inches of snow in many places, the national forecaster has warned of more severe snowfalls and temperatures of -7 to -10 likely in places.

The next 73 hours are expected to cause widespread disruption to transportation systems and prompt school closures nationwide.

Citizens are advised to stay indoors as much as possible, keep an eye on elderly neighbours and not put themselves in any sort of danger as emergency personnel will be put to the pin of their collar until the snow storm subsides.
