Big freeze on the way: Forecasters say Ireland and the UK will experience one of its worst winter’s in over five years

Ireland and the UK could soon be set to face its worst winter in more than five years over the coming months ahead according to leading forecasters.

The big freeze which is apparently set to arrive by December will come as brisk winds from the North pole will descend over the UK and Ireland before the end of November.

Forecasters in the UK say the expected cold snap which will last right into the new year will bring snow, ice and frost as temperatures are expected to drop as low as -11C.

They also say that this coming winter could potentially be one of the worst on record as Artic winds will bring bitterly cold conditions similar to those which were brought back in 2012-13.

It is expected that both Ireland and the UK will experience the cold snap as early as this weekend with forecasters predicting sub-zero temperatures and light snowfall on higher ground.

However they do say mid November will be milder with temperatures expected to remain in the low teens during the day and above sub-zero overnight, but by the months end the weather will take severe turn for the worst as the bitter Artic winds will sweep in across northern Europe.
