There was big news announced recently for the fans of the US smash hit show Prison Break as the shows creators and broadcaster confirmed the return date for the highly anticipated season 5.
The news which was announced by FOX recently also contained a new trailer for the show highlighting Michael Schofield’s return from the dead.
The critically acclaimed show will officially return to TV screens in the US on April 4th, after FOX’s long running serial crime drama Bones finishes up with it’s 12th and final season.
According to various reports in the entertainment world most of the original cast will return to the series in order to help Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) breakout his long lost brother Michael Schofield (Wentworth Miller) out of prison in the Middle East seven years after his supposed death from electrocution.
The revival series which will consist of 9 episodes will also tell the stories of many characters including Lincoln, Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell and Michael’s long lost love Sara Tancredi. Producers at FOX say the story of season 5 will have many twists and turns throughout which will surely have viewers enthralled to the end.
Meanwhile Executive producer Paul T. Scheuring teased in an interview with TVLine that the upcoming revival series will be straightforward. “This is a very tight, close-ended story, and it’s just constant thriller cliffhanger revelation one after another,” Scheuring said. “It just feels very dense, and [it’s] a story that’s not disingenuous. Sometimes in the old model… you felt I’m flapping my wings a little bit there.”
Although season 5 has an US air date it is not yet known when it will debut in Ireland and the UK, however it is widely expected to air a number days after the US premier, on Sky 1 who hold the current rights to the previous four seasons.
