Body found in Dublin recycling centre in July, identified today

The body of a man who was  found at a Dublin recycling centre in July has been identified as Mark Burke from Dún Laoghaire.

Mr Burke’s remains were found at Thornton’s recycling centre in Ballyfermot on 31 July. It is believed that Mr Burke was identified through DNA testing. Mr Burke’s was last known address was Bentley House in Dún Laoghaire, which is understood to provide short-term accommodation for homeless people. Gardai say it is not known when Mr Burke was last seen. They also say Mr Burke’s family only reported him missing recently and have appealed for privacy.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are still treating Mr Burke’s death as suspicious. Gardai are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them at Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01-6667200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
