The body of a woman was discovered near rocks at Scotsmans Bay in Sandycove on Thursday morning.
The woman was described as being 50 to 60 years of age, between 5’4” to 5’6” in height, with red hair. She was wearing a purple coat, light blue fleece, a red shirt, dark purple jeans, navy socks and brown size 40 boots. Her fingernails where painted purple.
A post-mortem analysis revealed that she died by drowning, and her body did not appear to have been in the water for very long.
