There is an ongoing situation at Mullingar Garda station, after a member of the public brought a device there.
The person is understood to have found the item, and took it to the station. It is unclear whether or not the person was aware of what he was carrying.
An Army Bomb Disposal team is on the way to Mullingar.

Update: The device turned out to be a Civil War-era Mills 36 grenade. The weapon was removed by the Bomb Disposal Unit and safely detonated.
