Bono says Pope Francis is “aghast” about sex abuse within the Catholic Church

Singer and U2 frontman Bono has said that Pope Francis is “aghast” about the historical sex abuse within the Catholic Church.

Speaking to reporters following his meeting with the pontiff on Wednesday, the Dubliner revealed that he and Pope Francis had an in-depth discussion about the abuse and victims.

The U2 frontman revealed that he told the pontiff that it looks to some people that the abusers are being more protected than the victims.

He added that felt the Pope’s response was genuine saying: “You could see the pain in his face.”

“I felt he was sincere and I think he is an extraordinary man for extraordinary times.”

Bono’s statement comes after the pair held a meeting in the Vatican Hotel to discuss to what he described as ” The wild beast that is capitalism” and sustainable development.
