The vast majority of the country will be forced to batten down the hatches early next week as Ireland will be hit with a major storm which is likely to cause some damage.
It is expected by late Sunday evening that the west coast of Ireland will experience strong winds that will be upwards of 100mph.
The news of the bad weather comes as hurricane Ophelia which was recently upgraded to a category two hurricane, will sweep its way up from the Azores and make its way across Irish shores during the early part of next week.
According to Met Eireann the hurricane which will be down graded to a storm once it reaches Ireland, will quickly sweep across from the west bringing winds ranging from 75mph to 100mph until Monday.
The national forecaster also said the highly powerful storm will bring heavy rainfall in from the west which is likely to make its way across country by dinner time.
It is expected by late Monday the storm will become calmer with wind speeds becoming slower throughout the day.
