A van has smashed into pedestrians on a busy street in Shanghai, China, leaving at least 18 people badly injured.
It’s understood that the minivan was packed with gas canisters that either exploded upon impact or were alight when it mounted the pavement outside a coffee shop at the busy area of People’s Square at 9am Chinese time.
Emergency services are at the scene and have managed to get the fireball under control. Eyewitnesses claim 6 people were also trapped in the mini-van but authorities have not yet confirmed this.
It’s not yet know what the reason for the crash was, authorities have released no official explaination other than an investigation is ongoing.
