Reports are coming through that New Zealand authorities are preparing for the worst and getting ready for a Tsunami following a massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake near Christchurch, New Zealand.
The seismic activity, measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale, hit 46km from the town of Amberley and 70km from the town of Kaiapoi. The quake struck at a shallow depth of 5 km around 9am Irish time.
So far thankfully there have been no reports of casualties, but authorities have just released a statement saying they are now preparing for a possible huge Tsunami in the region as a result of the quake.
